About Padma

Padma Kuppa is a problem solver, bridge builder, and catalyst for thoughtful action.

An engineer, a public servant, and an interfaith leader, she brings a rare combination of systems thinking and lived compassion to every room she enters. Shaped by life in both the United States and India, she navigates cultures and perspectives with ease and authenticity.

With an education in mechinical engineering, computer science and engineering design, Padma is a seasoned automotive and IT professional, with decades of civic leadership, interfaith bridge building and advocacy, Padma has worked across industries — from higher education and automotive to auto finance and additive manufacturing — to solve complex challenges and connect a wide range of stakeholders.

As a former state legislator, nonprofit leader and published author, she continues to work at the intersection of innovation, collaboration, and service.

Padma believes that solving problems requires clarity, that building bridges demands empathy, and that inspiring action starts with listening deeply.

She views leadership not as a title, but as a lifelong practice rooted in dharma — responsibility, service, and ethical action.

Outside of her professional work, Padma finds inspiration in literature and the arts, in nature, and in meaningful conversations with people that cross cultures, generations, and worldviews.

She is honored to be listed in Marquis Who’s Who in America, and was inducted into the first Walker’s Legacy Power25 in Detroit over a decade ago. She is proud to be featured as a leader in Pluralism in Practice, by scholars at the Harvard’s Pluralism Project. She was recognized by the Interfaith Leadership Council of Metropolitan Detroit’s in 2025 with their annual Peacemaker award and continues to write and speak on leadership, identity, and purpose.
